Kumble, on Wednesday (November 20), had hit out at Patel for not doing any development work at KSCA during his tenure as a secretary of the association for 12 years.
Now, Patel has issued a statement listing out his achievements during those 12 years and has given point-by-point rebuttal to Kumble's allegations.
"Anil Kumble seems to be suffering from a bout of amnesia as all the office bearers in the team he is backing today in the forthcoming elections namely: Mr. Sadanand Maiya, Mr. Ramdhayani, Mr. Tallam Venkatesh, Mr. Abhiram, Mr. A V Jayaprakash & Mr. C R Lakshminarayan were all part of the managing committee during the said 12 years where he claimed there was no progress," Patel said in a statement.
"As I understand, they are trying to back a team who has not contributed "anything" in the said 12 years and are trying to remote control the association without taking any responsibility," Patel added.
Patel is contesting for secretary's post again in this year's elections. The KSCA polls will be held on December 1. Kumble and Javagal Srinath have decided not to seek re-election but are supporting a group led by industrialist Sadanand Maiya.
"Why 12 years, their (Kumble and team) attitude in the platinum jubilee clearly indicates that according to them no progress has been achieved in the past 75 years itself.
"The way they treated the members, past administrators, former cricketers, people who have genuinely contributed to the association who have brought it to what it is today is testimony of their callous attitude," Patel said.
"I am never in the habit of bragging about what we have achieved in the 12 years. Members know what has been my contribution to KSCA from my cricketing days to my administrative stint," he added.
Patel, the former India batsman, listed out achievements of him and his team which among other included "acquiring more than 100 acres of land across the state for cricket grounds, organising benefit matches for former Test cricketers, being the first association in the country to grant membership introducing a special category for cricketers, first association in the country to start a state cricket academy with almost the entire state team today are products of this academy".
On hiring Sporting Frontiers for Karnataka Premier League (KPL) and Patel being associated with it, he termed Kumble's claim as "an absolute lie and is a baseless allegation".
