Adelaide, Dec 5: Cricket Australia (CA) has apologised to Monty Panesar and England after a 'racist' jibe was posted on the CA Twitter handle before start of the second Ashes Test here today.

According to a report in "Daily Mail", the England left-arm spinner was subject to an apparent 'racist' jibe by CA on Twitter.

CA apologises for Monty 'racist' tweet

"The official account of Australia's govening body showed four Sikh men wearing Teletubbies outfits with the message: 'Will the real Monty Panesar please stand up'," the report said.

The message was later deleted by CA and an apology followed. "We apologise for any offence caused by our earlier tweet. That was certainly not the intention. It has been removed," tweeted CA.

Panesar is part of the playing XI in the second Ashes Test against Australia which began at the Adelaide Oval today. He did not play the first Test.

Australia lead the five-Test series 1-0 after winning in Brisbane.
