Bangalore, Dec 14: India captain MS Dhoni, with his on-field exploits and the off-field earnings, has left behind top celebrities in the country in the latest "Forbes India Celebrity 100" list.
According to the magazine, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan takes the top spot this year followed by Dhoni. Sachin Tendulkar, who retired from international cricket last month, is at the fourth place behind Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
Virat Kohli is the other cricketer to have made it to the top-10 which also includes actors Amitabh Bachchan (5th), Akhsay Kumar (6th), Hrithik Roshan (10th), Ranbir Kapoor (8th) and Katrina Kaif (9th).
In all, 16 Indian cricketers including former batsmen Rahul Dravid and Navjot Singh Sidhu made the cut. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina, Ishant Sharma, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Cheteshwar Pujara and Harbhajan Singh are also in the list.
Dhoni's earnings according to the magazine is Rs 155.32 crores. Tendulkar earns Rs 94.32 crores while Kohli's is Rs 57.31 crores. Kohli is in seventh position.
The list has two rankings, "Money Rank" and "Fame Rank". Tendulkar is still the number one in the list in terms of fame. In terms of money, he is sixth. Dhoni is second in fame and third in money.
"In the case of the Rich List, we focus on net worth; the Celebrity 100 list is arrived at by measuring money (earnings) and fame. The list includes movie actors, television stars, sportspersons, authors, film directors, music directors, singers and stand-up comedians," the magazine said.
"Fame is defined as media visibility in print, television and online plus social media power; this is measured by looking at each celebrity's presence on Facebook and Twitter. Their gross pre-tax earnings are combined with their fame scores to arrive at the final ranking," it added.
The total earning estimate of the 100 celebrities is Rs 2,622 crores.
"The total earnings estimate of the 100 celebrities on our list is about Rs 2,622 crore, of which the top 10 together earn Rs 1,145 crore (43 percent). Twenty-four new faces enter the list this year. Notable names among the dropouts are Mary Kom, Boman Irani, Ajit Kumar, Viswanathan Anand and Junior NTR," the magazine said.
