India's number three batsman, Pujara has moved two places to be at the fifth position in the batsmen's rankings in Tests that were released Monday by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Pujara, with a century in the just concluded two-Test series against South Africa, gained two places. Virat Kohli, who too hit a ton against the Proteas, however, maintained his 11th position in the rankings.
Pujara is the only Indian in the top-10. His 851 rating points are the best for him so far in his short Test career.
Apart from Pujara and Kohli, there is no other Indian in the top-20 list headed by South Africa's AB de Villiers. Shivnarine Chanderpaul of West Indies is second followed by Ross Taylor of New Zealand.
In the bowlers' Test rankings, Ashes hero Ryan Harris of Australia moved two places up to be the third behind top-ranked Vernon Philander (South Africa) and second placed Dale Steyn.
The highest ranked Indian bowler is R Ashwin at seventh slot. He is unchanged in the latest rankings. Left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha lost one place to be at 9th. These are the two Indians in top-10.
Ashwin is the number one in all-rounders' rankings in Tests.
