Mumbai, Jan 8: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clarified that it is no way associated with the proposed '7PL' cricket league in the United Arab Emirates.
According to a report in "The Times of India", the seven-a-side league is to be launched this week in Dubai with India captain MS Dhoni as its chief ambassador. However, BCCI on Tuesday (January 7) rubbished the newspaper report.
"The Times of India, in its issue dated 7 January 2014, has published a report titled 'Unveiled: A new league that will redefine cricket,' about a cricket event to be played in the Middle East. The report mentions that the event has the blessings of the BCCI.
The BCCI wishes to clarify that this is incorrect. The ICC has also clarified that the Emirates Cricket Board has not approved such a tournament," BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said in a media statement.
