Chennai, Jan 10: Two-time champions Chennai Super Kings have retained five players including captain MS Dhoni for the seventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 7) this year.
According to IPL retention rules, a franchise can keep five players maximum before the auction next month.
In a tweet last night, CSK announced that there were retaining these five players.
Dhoni is set to continue as the captain of the team. The India skipper has led CSK to two IPL titles in 2010 and 2011.
In 2010, CSK did the double of winning both IPL and Champions League T20 (CLT20).
Last year, CSK were in the final but lost to Mumbai Indians. The team was hit by a controversy off the field with their "Team Principal" Gurunath Meiyappan questioned for alleged betting on CSK matches.
The players' auction will take place on February 12. Today is the deadline for all teams to announce their set of players retained.
