Mumbai, Jan 12: It was one of the best moments of Indian cricket when two of the country's greatest captains - Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni came together at BCCI's annual awards ceremony Saturday night (January 11).

Kapil and Dhoni, with their respective World Cup trophies, were seen together at the Indian cricket board's annual awards night.

Not only did they pose with the game's most prestigious silverware but exchanged them and it was the best moment for players, administrators and photographers present there. It was the first time that this special moment had happened.

In the audience were current and former Indian players including the recently retired icon sachin Tendulkar.

It was in 1983 that Kapil gave India its first ever World Cup trophy (Prudential Cup). After a gap of 28 years - in 2011, Dhoni repeated the feat at home - in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.

Saturday night was one of the rare occasions when both captains were holding those World Cup trophies. It is not often that you see both of them together at same place.

Kapil was bestowed with the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award on the night.

"When we started playing, it was only for passion as we didn't think about any awards. I would like to thank all the captains under whom I have played. Bishan Bedi, Sunil, Venkat (S Venkataragahavan), Gundappa Viswanath. I would like to thank my family who allowed me to play the game for so much time. I believe all of us including me should feel proud for making the game popular in the country," Kapil said after accepting the award.

While awards are a motivation for youngsters and in such ceremonies where achievers share the stage are truly an inspiration for the next generation.

Kapil and Dhoni standing together was certainly the best moment last night.
