Can Virat Kohli equal Brian Lara in Auckland?

Auckland, Jan 24: Virat Kohli has scored over 5,000 runs in One Day Internationals in five years. On way to that milestone he has set few records. And many more are likely to come from this youngster if he carries on in this fashion.

One immediate feat which Kohli will be aiming for, is Brian Lara's record.

Can Virat Kohli equal Brian Lara?

With already 18 ODI centuries in 120 innings, which is a world record, Kohli has impressed players and fans across the world.

When India take the field to play New Zealand in Auckland tomorrow (January 25) in the third ODI, Kohli can equal the West Indian great Lara by adding yet another hundred.

Lara finished his ODI journey with 19 tons from 299 matches. He is eighth in all-time list for most 100s in ODIs.

Kohli is now joint ninth with Mark Waugh on 18. The 25-year-old right-hander hit 123 in the first ODI in Napier against the Kiwis join the Australian. He looked set for another in Hamilton but fell for 78.

The way Kohli is batting, he can certainly match Lara on Saturday.
