Tendulkar, who retired from international cricket in November, 2013, was conferred with the Bharat Ratna few minutes after noon today in Delhi.
The 40-year-old Tendulkar reitred from cricket after playing in a record 200 Tests. His last day in international cricket was on November 16, 2013. On the same day, he was chosen for Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award.
Tendulkar is the first sportsperson to receive the Bharat Ratna. Tendulkar's wife Anjali and daughter Sara were also at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. However, Tendulkar's son Arjun was there as he was playing for Mumbai Under-14 team in Mumbai.
Eminent scientist Prof. CNR Rao too was conferred with Bharat Ratna today.
