Bangalore, Feb 13: The seventh edition of the Indian Premier league (IPL 7) will be held in India or South Africa between April 9 and June 3, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced today.
BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel, who was at the players' auction on Thursday, said that they want to host the tournament in India but if not then South Africa would be the first choice.
Due to general elections in April and May there is a possibility of IPL being moved out of India. The same happened in 2009 when South Africa was chosen to host the event.
Patel said they will be meeting home ministry officials soon and will take a decision.
IPL Chairman Ranjib Biswal said they would conduct the tournament between April 9 and June 3.
