New coaching role with ECB for Flower

London, Mar 4: Andy Flower, who stepped down as England's head coach, has been appointed as Technical Director of Elite Coaching by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

After a dismal Ashes tour to Australia, Flower relinquished the coach's role. However, he will remain with England set-up after taking up a new job with ECB.

On his new role, Flower told the ECB website: "I see this as a great opportunity for me as I start a new phase of my career.

"I am particularly excited about the chance to build and mould a leadership course which is not simply about captaincy but much more.

"His role offers me a chance to make a real contribution to the ability and character of England players and coaches in the years to come."

Paul Downton, Managing Director - England Cricket, said: "The ECB is delighted that we are able to retain a man of Andy Flower's experience and quality. His record over the last five years speaks for itself and the ECB and Andy are excited about the future."
