Chittagong, Mar 24: After setting several batting records against Ireland in the qualifying stage of ICC World Twenty20 2014, Netherlands crashed to a world record lowest team total against Sri Lanka on Monday.
Netherlands had set few records on Friday (March 21) against Ireland and qualified for the Super 10 stage. They had chased down 192 in 13.5 overs. But they were bowled out for just 39 in 10.3 overs today against Sri Lanka. In that record chase, by 10.3 overs, Netherlands had scored 150/3!
Angelo Mathews and Ajantha Mendis took three wickets each. Lasith Malinga had two scalps and Nuwan Kulasekara one.
Tom Cooper was the top scorer in this sorry scorecard with 16 runs. Netherlands beat the previous lowest total of 56 by Kenya.
Also, this is the second lowest innings total in all Twenty20 cricket. The lowest being 30 all out by Tripura against Jharkhand in October, 2009.
