Ahmedabad, May 6: Rajasthan Royals' legspinner Pravin Tambe achieved a rare distinction of taking a hat-trick in two balls yesterday (May 5) at the Sardar Patel Stadium here.

Scorecard; Match Report

Tambe took a hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders here on Monday with two legal deliveries after the first wicket came through a wide ball.

Unique feat: 2-ball hat-trick for Tambe

KKR, who were cruising towards victory after a century opening partnership between captain Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa, collapsed to hand Royals a 10-run win.

Tambe engineered KKR's slide with a hat-trick in the 16 over of the game.

The 42-year-old scalped Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan and Ryan ten Doeschate to complete his maiden IPL hat-trick and also this edition's first.

When Tambe came to bowl the 16th over, KKR needed 49 off 30. His first ball was a wide down the legside but Pandey had come out of the crease and wicketkeeper Sanu Samson had him stumped.

The second ball saw Yusuf offering a return catch to Tambe while Ten Doeschate was adjudged LBW by umpire CK Nandan. The ball hit the batsman's toe on the full.

In the next four balls of the over, Tambe conceded three singles.

This was Tambe's fourth and final over. He finished with figures of 3/26. With three wickets in this match, Tambe was the Purple Cap holder with 12 victims in 7 matches.

Tambe is only the second bowler in Twenty20 history to claim a hat-trick in two legal deliveries. The first was achieved by Sri Lanka's Isuru Udana for Wayamba against Central Districts during 2010 Champions League T20 in Port Elizabeth.
