Scorecard; Orange Cap standings

During today's Qualifier 1 clash against Kings XI Punjab, Uthappa surpassed Kohli's tally of 634 in 2013's IPL. The batsman from Karnataka scored 42 today and now has 655 runs this season.

Uthappa breaks Kohli's IPL record

Uthappa had started the game today on 613 runs in 14 innings. He is currently the leading run scorer of IPL 7. The 28-year-old has already set a new world record in T20s with nine scores of 40 or more before today. And added a 10th one in this match.

In 2010, Sachin Tendulkar, playing for Mumbai Indians, had won the Orange Cap honours. This is the only time an Indian has won the award.

On current form, Uthappa could become the second Indian to take the Orange Cup award this year.

Chris Gayle (twice 2011 and 2012), Shaun Marsh (2008), Matthew Hayden (2009) and Michael Hussey (2013) have been the recipients of the leading run-scorer awards.
