Mirpur, June 17: Stuart Binny, on Tuesday, broke Anil Kumble's Indian bowling record in One Day Internationals which stood for 21 years.
Karnataka allrounder Binny bowled a dream spell of bowling against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The right-arm medium fast bowler took 6 wickets for just 4 runs in his 4.4 overs. This was the 9th best in the history of ODIs. Binny was playing only his 3rd ODI and in his previous two had no wickets.
These bowling figures of 6/4 are the best for India in the history of ODIs. Kumble held the record with 6/12 against West Indies in November, 1993 in Kolkata.
After being bowled out for a paltry 105, India bounced back to beat Bangladesh by 47 runs. Binny took six wickets including two in two while Mohit Sharma had four.
Bangladesh were bowled out for 58 in 17.4 overs. India took the three-match series 2-0. The third and final ODI will be played on June 19.
