Bangalore, July 1: Former England captain Kevin Pietersen is not a fan of day/night Test cricket and has called the idea as a "joke".

Yesterday (June 30), Australia and New Zealand announced plans to play first ever day/night Test match next year.

Day-night Test is a 'joke': Pietersen

On Tuesday, Pietersen used the micro-blogging site Twitter to air his views on pink ball Test cricket.

"Day/night Test cricket - what a joke! Hope all statistics start again then!," tweeted Pietersen today.

To this, former Australia batsman Dean Jones justified the idea and wrote "I would have 2 new balls starting each innings. One for each end. 35 overs each and COMPULSORY change after 70 overs. #letsgetonwithit #Test."

For this, Pietersen repiled: "@ProfDeano it's rubbish! Start stats all again then!!!!!."

Pietersen wants less number of Tests and he is confident more people will watch it.

"Play less and people will watch! Fact!," he wrote.

"Don't mess with Test cricket! Play less and people will watch! People don't watch cos there's cricket every day!," he added.

"Yes, But we need a balance. We need a Test WC, & Test players earning more $ than T20 players as it's the better form of the game," he wrote.
