Southampton, July 31: India will play the fourth Test against England next week without their paceman Ishant Sharma, captain MS Dhoni has confirmed today.
Ishant, who missed the third Test due to an ankle problem, will not be fit to take the field in the next Test starting on August 7 in Manchester.
Today, India lost the third Test by 266 runs. The five-match series is level at 1-1. Ishant was withdrawn from the third Test on the morning of the match and was replaced by debutant Pankaj Singh, who went wicketless with a an unwanted record.
"Ishant (Sharma) won't be fit for the next game," said Dhoni at the post-match presentation ceremony.
"Ishant has a sore leg. We need to do a few more tests but we have 11 days before for the next Test, so we will watch him carefully," India's bowling coach Joe Dawes had said after the opening day's play of the third Test on Sunday (July 27).
