New Delhi, Aug 12: India offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been recommended for the Arjuna Award along with 14 other athletes.

Arjuna Awards are given by the Indian government for outstanding achievements in national sports. The selection committee, headed by former India captain Kapil Dev, has today shortlisted 15 names for the Arjuna Award.

However, the selection committee has decided not to pick any sportsperson for the country's highest sports honour Khel Ratna.

Ashwin is currently playing the five-match Test series in England. Yesterday (August 11), he became the number one Test all-rounder in ICC Rankings.

The 27-year-old Ashwin has taken 104 Test wickets in 20 matches and also has 106 victims in 79 ODIs. The right-hand batsman also has two Test hundreds.
