Melbourne, Aug 13: Former captain Greg Chappell has picked an all-time Australian left-handed one-day XI to celebrate International Left Handers Day.

Chappell has chosen "inspirational leader" Allan Border to lead the side while naming Adam Gilchrist as his deputy. Chappell announced his squad on Cricket Australia's (CA) website today.

"I've always felt sorry for left-handers, watching them smudge their writing as their hand runs over the ink, but this is a pretty impressive team and not one I'd like to come up against on the cricket field - there are some real greats of the game here," he said.

"Allan Border was unanimously selected as captain; he is an inspirational leader, a great batsman, plus he can also send down a few overs of spin should he be required," he added.
