The third edition of Karnataka Premier League (KPL) will commence in Mysore on August 28 (Thursday). The 7-team Twenty20 tournament will run till September 12 with matches across Mysore, Bangalore and Hubli.

The tickets for the opening two games in Mysore have been already sold out, according to the organisers Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).

Here are the important facts and figures about KPL 2014

# The tournament, approved by BCCI, will be played from August 28 to September 12. The competition features players from Karnataka only

# KPL first began in 2009. And after the second edition in 2010, it was not conducted in 2011, 2012 and 2013

# There is no team from Bangalore

# This is the first domestic T20 league in the country to have a film actors team (Rockstars) among professional cricket sides

# KPL, sponsored by Karbonn Mobiles, is a tribute to the late president of KSCA Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar

# Three grounds will be used - M Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bangalore), Gangothri Glades (Mysore) and DR Bendre KSCA Stadium (Hubli)

# The first match of 2014 edition is on August 28 at 5PM in Mysore between Mangalore United and Rockstars

# All matches to be telecast Live on Sony SIX (both HD and SD)

10,000 rupees was the lowest bid price for a player

530,000 rupees - Amount paid to Robin Uthappa by Bellary at the players' auction. Uthappa is the costliest player in the league
