KPL Match 2: Warriors silence Tigers; Pawan shines

Mysore, Aug 29: Mysore Warriors started their campaign with a convincing 31-run victory over Hubli Tigers in Match 2 of Karbonn Smart Karnataka Premier League 2014 today.

After setting a target of 165 for the Tigers, Warriors bowled well to restrict them to 133/9 in the allotted overs. Right-arm medium paceman Aditya B Sagar shone with the ball taking three wickets for 22 runs in four overs.

KPL Match 2: Warriors silence Tigers

R Jonathan was the lone batsman who did well for the Tigers. His 52 off 37 balls was the highlight of the run-chase. The rest of the batsmen failed to get going.

Warriors score 164/4 in 20 overs; KB Pawan 50

Opener KB Pawan hit a 39-ball 50 to guide Mysore Warriors to 164/4 in 20 overs. Opting to bat first, Mysore, playing in front of their home crowd at Gangothri Glades on Friday, put up a good score.

Mysore captain and star batsman Manish Pandey failed with the bat, departing for just 13 runs.

Pawan hit 6 fours and 1 six in his 50 while the next best contribution came from his opening partner Shishir Bhavane with 31 off 23 (2x4, 2x6). Pawan and Bhavane gave Mysore a fine start, adding 74 in 8.4 overs.

For Hubli, Praveen Dubey took two wickets for 16 runs in his four-over spell. Prasanna Patil and M Kranthi Kumar had one success each.

In the tournament opener on Thursday, Mangalore United defeated Rockstars by 7 wickets at the same ground. KPL runs till September 12.
