Zimbabwe notch historic win over Australia, end 31-year wait

Harare, Sep 1: Zimbabwe registered a historic victory over Australia, their first ODI success over their opponents in 31 years.


Captain Elton Chigumbura (52 not out) was the star as the hosts upset Michael Clarke-led side by three wickets in the tri-series tournament also involving South Africa, yesterday (August 31).

The hosts chased down 210 losing 7 wickets at the Harare Sports Club ground.

This was Zimbabwe's first win over Australia in ODIs since 1983 when they had scored a 13-run victory during the World Cup in England on June 9.

Earlier, Clarke hit an unbeaten 68 to guide Australia to 209/9 in 50 overs. They were reeling at 57/4.
