Bangalore, Sep 20: It was a dream come true for 17-year-old Preetham from Mysore, who met his hero Dwayne Bravo and won a Chennai Super Kings training jersey from the West Indies all-rounder on Friday evening (September 19) here in Bangalore. Bravo had to leave the field bare-chested after the boy won the catching challenge!
Preetham, a budding fast bowler from Mysore, was one of the few youngsters chosen by Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to bowl in the 'nets' for CSK players as part of their preparations for CLT20.
On Friday (September 19), Preetham bowled his heart out to Bravo and other CSK batsmen at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here. (Also see: Exclusive photo of Dhoni playing badminton)
After the West Indian had done with his batting stint, he assembled a few of the 'net' bowlers for a challenge of catching.
Bravo made them stand and started giving catches. The game was, whoever drops the catch is eliminated. As Bravo hit the ball towards the youngsters, after grabbing few, one by one failed, spilling the ball and dropped out. Preetham was the last boy standing and he won.
Before the game, Bravo had told them he would remove his CSK jersey there itself and hand it over to the winner. And, he kept his word.
As Preetham gobbled up close to 20 catches and stood there as the winner, Bravo promptly took his jersey off and handed it over to the young boy.
An overjoyed Preetham, thanked his hero and wore the jersey, a prized possession for the rest of his life.
"Today is one of the best days in my life. I met my hero Dwayne Bravo and received a CSK jersey as a gift. I took nearly 20 catches to win this magnificent jersey," said an ecstatic Preetham, proudly wearing the CSK shirt.
