Chennai, Sep 26: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today felicitated its suspended president N Srinivasan at the Working Committee meeting and took a decision to hold the AGM on November 20.
"The Committee felicitated Mr. N. Srinivasan on his appointment as the Chairman of ICC for 2 years from 28th June 2014. He was attending the meeting as a representative of the TNCA," BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said in a media release on Friday after the Working Committee meeting.
"The Committee fixed the date and venue of the AGM of the Board. The AGM will be held at Chennai on 20th November 2014," he added.
The AGM has been deferred to pave the way for president-in-exile Srinivasan's return at the helm as the majority of BCCI members feel that he will get clean chit from the Supreme Court-apppointed Justice (Retd) Mukul Mudgal committee.
Srinivasan attended the meeting as the President of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. In fact his influence could be gauged from the fact that the house felicitated Srinivasan.
According to top BCCI sources, only objection was raised by the representative of the Vidarbha Cricket Association, who wanted to know about the reason for delaying the AGM but his concern did not bother the majority of the members.
"The Committee approved the Audited Annual Statement of Accounts for the year ended 31st March 2014," Patel said.
"The Committee, while approving the qualifications for the 'A' teams, decided that only those below the age of 23 years as on 1st September 2014 will be eligible, and there is no cap on the number of Ranji Trophy Players.
The Committee approved the formation of a team from North Zone to visit Jammu & Kashmir, to assess the losses to the Cricket activities in the state and to suggest necessary assistance for resumption of regular Cricket activities," he added.
Also today, at the Working Committee meeting, Ravi Shastri was retained as Team India Director till the World Cup 2015.
