At its Working Committee meeting, BCCI expressed its "gratitude" to Shastri for the same role during the England tour and decided to have his services till the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Shastri was appointed Team Director for the ODI series and T20I in England last month. India had won that series.
BCCI has also retained the Indian support staff of Sanjay Bangar, Bharat Arun (both assistant coaches) and R Sridhar (fielding coach). They were also appointed along with Shastri last month. The Board also said Duncan Fletcher will continue as the coach of the team.
Shastri will be with the team for the forthcoming home series against the West Indies and will also travel to Australia for the Test and limited overs series before the World Cup.
"The Committee expressed its gratitude to Mr. Ravi Shastri for having accepted the request to oversee the activities of the Indian Team as a Director for ODIs and the T20 International during the England tour," BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said in a media release on Friday.
"Mr. Ravi Shastri will oversee the activities of the Indian Team as a Director during the West Indies Home Series and the Test Series in Australia. He will be with the Indian Team on a full-time basis during the Triangular series in Australia and also for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
"Mr. Duncan Fletcher will continue as the Coach of the Indian Team. The Committee also approved the appointment of Mr. Sanjay Bangar and Mr. B. Arun as Assistant Coaches, and Mr. R. Sridhar as the Fielding Coach," he added.
