Despite a poor tour of England recently, Kohli, 25, is a big hit with Indian fans. He now has over 4 million followers on Twitter, more than Dhoni's (3.09 million).
Thrilled with the support from his supporters, Kohli tweeted last night, "Wow! 4 million followers on twitter. Totally amazing. Thank you for all your love and support." Later he posted a selfie and wrote "Here's the 4 million follower selfie. Hope you like it :)."

Kohli now has 4,013,828 followers (9,25,647 more than Dhoni) on Twitter while Dhoni has 3,088,181. Former India skipper and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has 4.59 million followers (4,592,280). In terms of Tweets, Kohli has tweeted 591 times to Dhoni's 353. (All numbers as on October 2, 2014, 1.20 PM IST).
Dhoni joined Twitter in November 2009 while Kohli made his Twitter debut in September 2009. Tendulkar took to the micro-blogging site much later, in April 2010.
At this rate, Kohli is soon to catch up with Tendulkar's numbers, on Twitter.
