Abu Dhabi, Oct 13: One of the most unbelievable finishes in ODI cricket was witnessed here on Sunday night (October 12) when Australia pulled off a thrilling 1-run final-over win against Pakistan to complete a 3-0 clean sweep.

Needing 2 to win off the final over, Pakistan lost both their wickets - Sohail Tanvir first and Mohammad Irfan to go down by 1 run.

What was incredible about this game was that Glenn Maxwell, the offspinner, brought on to bowl the 50th and final over, claimed a double-wicket maiden to stun Pakistan.

The win sealed Australia's number one position in the ICC ODI Rankings.

Pakistan were chasing 232 to avoid a whitewash. Australia captain George Bailey used up all his fast bowlers by the 47th over and the final 3 were spin, shared by Maxwell (2) and Xavier Doherty.

Bowling the final over, Maxwell held his nerve to dismiss Tanvir, bowled off the second ball and Irfan was caught by James Faulkner off the last ball of the match.

Earlier, Steve Smith top-scored with 77 and David Warner made 56 as Australia posted 231/9 in 50 overs. Australia lost their way from 102/2 and ended up with a modest total.

Maxwell won the Man-of-the-match while Smith took the Man-of-the-Series honour.

Now the teams head to Dubai to contest in two Tests, starting on October 22.
