Leeds: Triumphant Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly on Monday attributed the historic victory against England to team effort and hoped to cap the feat by clinching the decider at The Oval. "It was a very good team effort, all of us played really well," an exultant Ganguly said after India defeated England by an innings and 46 runs to record its first Test victory in the country in 16 years. Overwhelmed by the enormous support from the crowd, the Indian skipper said, "I hope we have not disappointed them and I hope we do not disappoint them at the Oval also." With the series tied at 1-1, India and England lock horns in the fourth and final cricket Test starting at the Oval on September 5. "We have played some good cricket overseas in the last one year. Though we have not won a series, we came close to winning on a couple of occasions," he said. Ganguly admitted it had been a tough decision to bat first on a wicket that behaved treacherously but said the team did well to overcome the odds. "It was a big decision to bat first... but I had the confidence of having the best batsmen in the world (in our ranks). And the first day set the game for us. The moment we touched 630 odd runs we knew we were in with a chance," Ganguly, who contributed his bit by scoring an attractive 128, said. Extras: India wraps up series-levelling win by innings
