Colombo: Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath has agreed to play Test cricket again despite announcing his retirement three months ago, skipper Saurav Ganguly said on Saturday.

"He has said he is going to play Test cricket again. He has told us and the selection committee chairman Brijesh Patel that he is willing to return. He's still good enough to play in both One-dayers and Tests," Ganguly said.

Srinath, 32, quit Test cricket after India's tour of the West Indies in June, but said he was available for One-dayers and was keen to play in next year's World Cup in South Africa.

The national selectors, however, ignored him for the NatWest Trophy in England and the ongoing Champions Trophy. Srinath played for English county Leicestershire for a short spell before being summoned to replace an injured Ashish Nehra.

"We were disappointed when he announced his retirement because we needed him in England. We always wanted him to play Test cricket," Ganguly said.
