In the 4th Test between India and West Indies at St John's, Antigua, which ended in a dreary draw on May 14, Carl Hooper and Shivnarine Chanderpaul became the 10th and 11th players for West Indies to score three or more centuries in a series.

Both made identical scores of 136, but Chanderpaul remained unbeaten. The two players had earlier scored two hundreds each in the series - Hooper had hit 233 at Georgetown and 115 at Bridgetown while Chanderpaul had recorded scores of 140 at Georgetown and 101* at Bridgetown.

This provided in all 24th and 25th instance of a player scoring 3 or more centuries in a series for West Indies. Clyde Walcott leads the list with 5 centuries in a series against Australia in 1954/55; in fact this is a world record for most centuries by any batsman in a Test series - a record, which eluded even Sir Donald Bradman.

George Headley, who was nicknamed Black Bradman and Everton Weekes come next with four centuries each in a Test series. Sir Gary Sobers - the greatest all-rounder the world has ever seen, has also a record scoring 3 centuries in a series on five different occasions.

Three or more tons in a series by TWO PLAYERS of the same side.

The instance of C L Hooper and S Chanderpaul - both scoring 3 centuries in a series, is the 10th such instance in the history of 1,602 Tests wherein two players of the same side have hit 3 or more centuries in a series.

For West Indies this is the third such occasion - the earlier feats being in 1957/58 against Pakistan when Garfield Sobers and Conrad Hunte recorded 3 tons each and in 1976 when Gordon Greenidge and Vivian Richards both scored 3 centuries each in the series against England.

For India this is the second time where an opponent team has performed such a feat against them - the last occasion was in 1982/83 when Mudassar Nazar and Zaheer Abbas of Pakistan had accomplished the feat. Mudassar Nazar had scored four hundreds and Zaheer Abbas three hundreds in that series.
