Jayasuriya injured by Lee delivery, in danger of WC exit

Centurion: Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya was in danger of being ruled out for the rest of the World Cup after injuring his left forearm against Australia on Friday.

The left-hander was rushed to hospital with a suspected fracture when he was hit on the forearm by a 150kmh delivery from Australian fast bowler Brett Lee in the opening match of the Super Sixes.

Jayasuriya was in considerable agony as he retired hurt for one and was taken off the field and into a waiting ambulance at the SuperSport Park by team physiotherapist Alex Kontouri.

"It looks like a fracture, he is in great pain," Kontouri said before leaving for hospital. Sri Lanka has two more Super Sixes games against India and Zimbabwe before knowing its fate for the semi-finals.
