Johannesburg: The International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Tuesday it will not take any action against Australian leg spinner Shane Warne, who withdrew from the World Cup after a failed drug test.

A pre-tournament test by Australia's Sports Drugs Agency (ADSA) revealed Warne had tested positive for a banned diuretic, hydrochlorothiazide and amiloride.

Warne will return home later on Tuesday for a 'B' test in Melbourne, possibly later in the week. The ICC said in a statement that the Warne issue fell under the jurisdiction of the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) and would therefore be dealt by the ACB under the its anti-doping policy.

"The ICC's doping policy applies only to tests taken during the World Cup," the statement said. The ICC said a formal application by the ACB for a replacement for Warne had not been received, but if it is, the tournament's technical committee will be asked to consider the request.
