Poor performance of Indian team echoes in High Court
Tuesday, February 18 2003 19:06 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The poor performance of Indian cricketers in the World Cup had an echo in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday.

During the hearing of a petition challenging the International Cricket Council's (ICC) players contract, members from the Bench and the Bar said by the next date of the case "our team may return home".

When senior advocate K K Venugopal, appearing for a batch of petitioners who had challenged the ICC's players contract, sought adjournment of the case, a Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Devinder Gupta and Bader Durez Ahmed, said, "By that time the Indian team may have returned."

Similar sentiments were expressed by a score of senior advocates and other lawyers, representing various parties in the case during the brief hearing.
