Indians need to work hard to reach Super Six: Kapil
Thursday, February 20 2003 20:21 Hrs (IST)

Pondicherry: The Indian team would have to work hard to qualify for the Super Six stage in the ongoing World Cup in South Africa, former India captain Kapil Dev said on Thursday.

Kapil Dev, who was here to participate in a programme sponsored by Kinetic Engineering Company, told reporters that the comfortable victory over Zimbabwe should spur the team to further wins in the tournament.

The Indians could not afford to be complacent as their next opponents were England and Pakistan. He termed as 'a sorry spectacle', the attacks on the homes of players and also the burning of their pictures in public.

"We should take sports as it comes and not indulge in such activities," he said. He also visited the homes of two winners of a contest, conducted by Kinetic Engineering.
